• Location: Wimberley is in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, about an hour from Austin and San Antonio.
• Closest Airports: Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and San Antonio International Airport (SAT).
• Driving Directions: From Austin, take I-35 South to Kyle, then FM 150 to FM 3237. From San Antonio, take I-35 North to San Marcos, then RR 12.
• Austin: 45 miles (~1 hour)
• San Antonio: 60 miles (~1 hour)
• Houston: 180 miles (~3.5 hours)
• Dallas/Fort Worth: 230 miles (~4 hours)
• Spring & Fall: Ideal for outdoor activities, with pleasant temperatures and wildflowers in bloom.
• Summer: Hot and sunny, perfect for swimming at Blue Hole Regional Park.
• Winter: Mild with occasional cold snaps, great for holiday shopping, cozy stays & less crowds.

• Outdoor Adventures: Swim at Blue Hole Regional Park, explore Jacob’s Well Natural Area, or hike Old Baldy for breathtaking views.
• Shopping: Browse local boutiques, art galleries, and unique shops on the Wimberley Square.
• Food & Drink: Enjoy local flavors at our cafes, wineries, and breweries.
• Events & Festivals: Check out our calendar for market days, seasonal festivals, and live music.
• Many shops and restaurants operate from 10 AM – 6 PM, with some staying open later on weekends.
• Some businesses may close on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, so check in advance. Wimberley is largely populated by small, family-owned and run establishments!
• Free parking is available in public lots throughout downtown. Our main public parking lot is located on Oak Drive, adjacent to the Square, or the Wimberley Community Center, a short, shaded walk across the Cypress Creek. During events, additional parking and shuttle services may be provided.
• Wimberley is a walkable town, but a car is recommended for exploring beyond the Square.
• Wimberley does not have a public transit system, but most attractions are easily accessible by car. We recommend renting a car or using local shuttle services for group travel.
• No rideshare services like Uber/Lyft—but we do have several small ride-share businesses!
• Respect nature: Pack out what you bring in and follow all park rules.
• Book in advance: Lodging, dining, and attractions can fill up quickly.
• Cash or card? Most places accept credit cards, but small vendors may prefer cash.
Yes! Wimberley is a pet-friendly town, and many businesses welcome well-behaved pets.
• Shops & Restaurants: Several businesses allow dogs on patios and outdoor areas. Look for pet-friendly signs or call ahead.
• Parks & Trails: Blue Hole Regional Park and other outdoor spaces allow leashed dogs.
• Lodging: Many vacation rentals and B&Bs accommodate pets—be sure to check policies when booking.
• Etiquette: Always keep your pet on a leash, clean up after them, and be mindful of hot pavement in the summer!
Yes, ATMs are available at several banks around town, as well as HEB and some convenience stores, but it’s good to have some cash for market vendors and small businesses.

We recommend bringing comfortable walking shoes and dressing for the season. Many areas in town have gravel paths or uneven terrain, so good footwear is key! If you plan to explore outdoor attractions, be sure to dress for the weather and bring sun protection.
